Research Area - Upscaling Studies in Multiphase Flow

One of the most important issues faced in multiphase flow technology development is scaling up small diameter and low pressure results to large diameter and high pressure conditions. Studies with a large diameter facility can significantly improve our understanding of flow characteristics in actual field conditions. The objective of this study is to investigate high pressure behavior of multiphase flow in the 6-in. ID flow loop. A new high pressure 6-in. flow loop has been constructed. This project is one of the main activities of TUFFP. Initially, nitrogen and mineral oil were used as testing fluids. The maximum operating pressure is 500 psia. The current research project is the investigation of low liquid loading gas-oil flow at elevated pressures.
